Sweezy

Born in the Caribbean in the country of  Trinidad and Tobago, my name Akil Manswell also known as Sweezy. Being from Trinidad, I have had culture and art engrained in my DNA since birth. Being from the Caribbean can be hard, as there is not a big global market for arts and entertainment outside the context of carnival and music. But as legends from Derek Walcott to Rihanna, I hope to be able to one day have the impact to inspire the entire globe coming from a country smaller than Chicago. I hope to inspire future film makers and artist from this region to spread our culture globally and approach the art with a no ceiling of limitation mentality.
I am a graduate of Lake Forest College as of May 2022,  with a major in Film/Video Art and a minor in Digital Media Design. I have passion for both film and photography especially aspects of camera operation and directing. I am especially interested in the film, music and fashion industries and would like to one day be able to work within and between all 3 industries. My strengths include conceptualizing ideas and shots, writing and my determination and to always learn more. With these tools, I know I will once day succeed and be able to achieve my goals.
